Within the framework of the exhibition “Tektonik” by Titus Schade at Konschthal Esch, architect and teacher Eline Bleser offers a workshop introducing architecture in the school curriculum through the creation of models.

"The ultimate goal of all artistic activity is building!" was proclaimed by Walter Gropius in 1919 in the first manifesto for the establishment of the famous Bauhaus School in Weimar. As architecture is closely connected to our lives in society and often considered applied art, the introduction to this field should take place at a young age through school.

This workshop is offered in conjunction with the exhibition “Tektonik” by German artist Titus Schade, who explores painting and its visual space in his works. In stage-like settings, he creates places that fluctuate between models and stage situations, inventing a variety of architectures and various accessories that invite the viewer into a private world.

Half-timbered buildings hold a special place in the artist's rich vocabulary of archetypes.

According to the artist:

"Especially half-timbered houses have arisen more from the desire to create a new subdivision of a facade itself, out of interest in geometry, structure - perhaps even ultimately in abstract decoration. When you have that in the picture, such a construction suddenly acquires a certain presence, almost something sacred."

The workshop "The Fach Werk" focuses on the visual and structural language of these architectures through practical exercises. The challenges are twofold: participants are guided towards questions of identity and architectural heritage, and they are introduced to the creation of architectural models to explore structural and graphic aspects of their own creations.

The models are crafted using manual tools and techniques, along with a modern material, polyurethane.
