German artist Ben Greber has a strong interest in the industrial age and its utopias.

In one of his exhibitions "Equipped" (2019), he and the Dutch artist Bram Kuypers undertook research focussing on the theme of camping and the industry related to it.

Parts of the organisation of the camping area or objects offered for sale, their appearance, the forms and materials discovered, inspired Greber to produce his own series of items and to cast sculptures from aluminium.

In this workshop you will get to know parts of accessories from the camping industry. You are also invited to bring some of your own, if you go camping yourself. Like Ben Greber, we will try to look at them not only for their function, but also as a form and material that may inspire us to create our own mini object. You will then cast these into a pendant together with the jewellery artist Birgit Thalau.

In this workshop, we will first introduce the subject and technique of casting, using the example of Ben Greber's exhibition. Then we'll prepare molds using a special sand and specific tools, and finally make jewelry out of pure pewter.
