The Konschthal Esch took part in Art Düsseldorf for the second time, presenting a previously unseen collection of photographic works by the German artist Gregor Schneider, accompanied by exclusive publications produced in collaboration with Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König. The exhibition was complemented by a public programme of talks featuring artists, curators and authors.
At the heart of the stand was a selection of previously unseen photographs from Gregor Schneider’s major work, Haus u r. These images immersed the viewer in the labyrinthine and oppressive spaces of the house in Rheydt, revealing new dimensions of this long-term project. To mark the occasion, a publication on TEXTil Haus u r. Gregor Schneider, published by the Konschthal Esch in collaboration with Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König, accompanied the presentation. This publication brought together texts by Ory Dessau as well as a rich body of images offering a fresh perspective on Schneider’s work.
A programme of public discussions, held daily at the Konschthal Esch stand, complemented the event. These sessions brought together leading figures from the contemporary art scene, including Gregor Schneider, Alicia Holthausen, Nik Nowak, Max Dax, Nika Schmitt and Charles Wennig. The discussions focused in particular on the challenges of architectural transformation, contemporary sound cultures and artistic systems exploring new perceptions of time and space, echoing the exhibition état bruit on display at the Konschthal until 20 September 2026.
