In response to the exhibition Ruin Echoes, Konschthal offers an artistic workshop for schoolclasses led by artist Gabriel Folli. Through drawing and experimentation with different materials, students are invited to explore the notion of ruins, the memory of forms and the traces left by the passage of time.
Experimenting with materials:
Using archival photographs of the region’s mining and industrial heritage as a starting point, children will experiment with raw materials such as charcoal, Indian ink and walnut ink. By introducing water (submerged paper, washes and erasures), the pictorial material dissolves and transforms, becoming a metaphor for the erosion of memory and the effects of time on structures.
The collective frieze – a monumental collaborative work:
Alongside their individual work, the pupils will collaborate on large rolls of paper to create a collective mixed-media drawing. By combining their lines and traces, they will reinvent a continuous, monumental landscape of ruins, oscillating between vanished industrial architecture and poetic imagination.
