Once again this summer, the Konschthal is putting artists in the spotlight with four Groovy Thursdays evenings. Join us on four Thursdays to enjoy art, music, and a festive atmosphere.
Each of these Thursdays will be dedicated to one of the exhibiting artists – Julien Hübsch, Jeremy Palluce, Claudia Passeri, and Letizia Romanini – with a diverse cultural program specially designed around their artistic universe and the works they are presenting.
On the agenda: guided tours with multiple perspectives, performances, music, multidisciplinary workshops – all in a relaxed and summery vibe. It's the perfect opportunity to (re)discover the exhibitions by night, between 6pm and 10pm.
6:30pm – 7:30pm
Performance: The Cutting Down of the Conocchia
As part of the Rurale Brutale exhibition, Claudia Passeri presents a selection of recent works exploring the passage of the individual and their connection to identity, territory, and collective memory. Among them is the birth tree, or Conocchia — a rural Italian tradition in which a tree is planted for each birth, stripped of its bark, and decorated with blue or pink ribbons depending on the child’s gender.
To extend this reflection, artist Claudia Passeri invites you to a unique event: “The Cutting Down of the Conocchia”, a performance during which the Maggiaioli of Genga — who also prepared the tree for the exhibition — will cut it down into small logs.
Performance: Madonna Amore – Interpretation by Nataša Grujović, accordion and voice
Nataša Grujović will reinterpret “Madonna Amore,” a popular song by Claudio Villa from 1955. “Madonna Amore” was born in an Italy torn between the economic boom of the 1950s and the nostalgia for a bygone past. In 2019, during the “Common Wealth” artist residency in Scheggia e Pascelupo, organized as part of the Bert Theis grant, Grujović presented a traveling “serenata” with her accordion from the back of a pickup truck. Serenata: a tradition still alive today, where the suitor sings his marriage proposal from the street, accompanied by his friends. For Groovy Thursday, Nataša will bring a new interpretation of “Madonna Amore,” with accordion and voice.
7:30pm – 10:00pm: Barbecue (or until supplies last)
