_FINAL_FINAL
Jeremy Palluce highlights the hidden power structures that emanate from seemingly innocuous objects such as school chairs or swimming pool hair dryers. He questions how these everyday objects subtly convey and consolidate social protocols, norms, and expectations.
Born into a family of Italian descent in Esch, he is interested in how people position themselves in relation to existing hierarchies, opportunities for upward social mobility, and the slow pace of cultural evolution.
Jeremy Palluce counters inhibiting mechanisms with counter-strategies of rebellion. In so doing, he explores the transformative power attributed to art, hip-hop music, and youth culture, whose aspirations to freedom make manifest, if nothing else, a desire for renewal. Through his playful, subversive artistic practice, he manages not only to challenge certain cultural codes but also to unmask them with humor.
Exhibited in the Project Room, the work’s title _FINAL_FINAL refers to a widespread practice in digital work: when saving and managing file versions, the term final is used to specify that something is finished, but in reality, there is usually another revision. The double repetition of final ironizes this process and emphasizes the impossibility of a definitive version. This practice corresponds to that of Jeremy Palluce, as his work often bridges past and present, deals with transformation and development, and can never be considered definitive. As with digital processing, another iteration, a new interpretation, or an unforeseen intervention, is always possible.
Jeremy Palluce (born 1994, in Luxembourg) studied at the Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier, the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences in Fribourg and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts (FHNW) in Basel, where he obtained a Master’s degree in fashion design. Since 2020, he has exhibited regularly in Luxembourg, Switzerland and Germany.
